1. I've upgraded to ArchiCAD 6.o and when I bring in a project from a previous version of ArchiCAD, the library objects in plan are filled with the "vapor barrier + building paper" fill. What is going on?

Starting with ArchiCAD 6.o, objects now have fill options so that they would be solid over vector hatching (for example: tile floor and cabinet). To make sure users are aware that there is a fill, the default fill has been set to "vapor barrier". To globally change this fill please do the following:
(thanks to David Pacifico & Dianne Davis)
  1. First make a very short line. Zoom in at the origin 3 times, and make a line so that delta r was 0". Then select and copy it.
  2. Go into the fill dialog box under options menu.
  3. Select the vapor barrier fill pattern and make a copy by clicking on NEW. That way you can use this fill later.
  4. Take the original vapor barrier and delete it. (This fill will now be considered "missing".)
  5. Click on NEW to make a new symbol fill. (Click on the symbol fill radio button.) Name it "OBJECT FILL".
  6. Click on Paste to paste in your very small line. Click on the SCALE INDEPENDENT radio button.
  7. In the X2 box type 1" and in the Y1 box type 1". This will now leave a (almost) blank vector fill.
  8. Click on all the black dots from the bitmap pattern in the upper right corner until it is blank.
Now when you go to an object they all will appear blank in vector and bitmap display modes, and the fill option will say OBJECT FILL.

2. I just upgraded to OS 8.5 (Macintosh) and am trying to install ArchiCAD but it keeps giving me a message saying 'Must have System 7.6 or greater'. Then the installation quits. What's wrong?

There is a minor problem with the Apple installer that we are using for ArchiCAD. Instead of using the INSTALLER, please go to the CD and 'drag-install' the ArchiCAD 6.o folder to your hard drive.
Please note: if you had an earlier version of ArchiCAD installed, please move the "GRAPHISOFT" folder out of your System Folder to make sure the new version doesn't use the older Add-Ons that may have been located there. Also, it is recommended that you adjust the memory partition size for the ArchiCAD 6.o application (by selecting the application and doing a GET INFO / Command-I) and giving it more memory based on your system configuration.

3. I'm getting 'phantom nodes' and strange selection dots or inverted selection showing up on my screen. What's up?

Phantom nodes have been found to appear onscreen on the following :
 -  Apple Macintosh G3 (such as the G3/300MHz mini-tower) which come bundled with "IXMicro 128-bit 2d-3d PCI graphics accelerator card w/8MB VRAM", labeled "Apple IX 3d 1.01". (PLEASE NOTE: This is *not* the built-in ATi 3D Rage video card, but is a PCI card taking up one of the slots.)
The Apple IX3d extension "Graphics Accelerator 1.02" is buggy and is causing display problems. Please turn off the extension in extension manager to eliminate the 'phantom node' problem or update to the latest driver. Unfortunately IXMicro ceased its operation, so this driver can't be downloaded. Please contact your local Apple dealer for more details.
 -  The first iMac, PowerBook G3 and Power Macintosh G3 machines equipped with ATI Rage 128 video cards caused a very similar problem due to a bug in the extension of this card. The update can be downloaded from http://asu.info.apple.com/swupdates.nsf/artnum/n11475

4. Recent changes of Library Parts are not updated in the Project after Rebuild.

To force the program to reinterpret the 2D scripts of Library Parts hold down the Alt (Option on the Mac) key while choosing Display/Rebuild.
