How
to manipulate the position of a texture that has just
been applied to a material right in the preview window.
1) First of all, you select a material by clicking on
it in the preview window. This will produce an interface
to edit the material.
2) At the bottom of the interface, click on the Apply
texture option.
3) A second interface will appear which allows you to
Create a texture (by selecting from a set
of predefined textures, saved in a selectable folder).
4) After choosing the texture and its size, you can open
such texture. You will notice that the selected texture
will appear on the material that you had previously clicked
on.
5) By default, the anchoring point of the applied texture
is its middle point. In order to change the anchoring
point, keep the Ctrl key depressed and click
on the cursor which appears on the texture as a highlighted
cross.
6) By keeping your mouse-button pressed on the highlighted
cross, you can drag the texture to the desired location
on the material.

Is
there a way to control the direction in which a shader
is applied on each of a set of identical materials (this
is useful, for instance, when determining the direction
of wood finishing on various surfaces) ?
Yes.
The trick is in defining each surface as a different material.
Then you can place the shader on one of the surfaces.
Once all parameters are established (color, brilliance,
turbulence, etc.), save such shader in the Shader library.
You can then reuse this shader for the other surfaces,
changing only its orientation as you apply it. |
